December 31, 2021 — After two years of tumult, crisis, and contention, 2022 is ready to bring more ease and gentleness, at least in our hearts and connections. 2020 was defined by the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, which was set to alter reality as we knew it through great upheaval. Then, 2021 brought the Saturn-Uranus square, which sparked friction between the past and future, freedom and restriction. The defining transit of 2022 is the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Pisces. The two co-rulers of transcendent Pisces are joining together, sparking the possibility for miracles. We can reconnect with spirit, creativity, and poetry, finding our internal peace, no matter what’s happening in the outer world.

This year, the Lunar Nodes also change signs—another defining feature of 2022. This will bring us out of the noise and overwhelm of everyone on their soap boxes flinging their opinions. The North Node in Taurus is leading us into more silence and simplicity, emphasizing our bare essentials.

What complications can we release in order to focus on our highest priorities? 

With Venus and Mars retrograding while the North Node moves through Taurus, we’re adjusting love and relationships and learning how to get along. Romance and sexuality hold keys to our evolution.

As Uranus crosses the North Node, breakthroughs are possible, along with shock and upheaval. Crises around the environment, inflation, and housing will become more pressing. But any surprises along the way are here to catapult us into progress, furthering our journeys toward creating enlightened society.

The Saturn-Uranus square of 2021 still forms the backdrop of 2022, and there are more challenges on the horizon as we work to create sweeping change. The good news is that we're starting to heal our divisions and reconnect with hope, inspiration, and heart. 

Fresh starts are imminent as Jupiter moves into Aries in the Spring. But first, we’re learning to relax and trust the Universe and each other. We can transmute old fears, paranoias, and traumas and step into greater sanity, groundedness, and compassion.

What dreams are we ready to make real this year? What miracles can unfold as our hearts heal?

In this year of healing and hope, may we embrace what’s to come—the beauty, shock, love, and loss—trusting their roles in our awakening and release. May we embrace change, clarify our priorities, and leap into action, ensuring an easier and simpler life for all. 

2022 TRANSITS

JUPITER IN PISCES / JUPITER CONJUNCT NEPTUNE

Jupiter, planet of expansion and good fortune, moves through dreamy Pisces for much of this year. Spirituality and inspiration are abundant. It’s time to dream big and mend our divides. We can relax the pain of calamity and heal our connections to Spirit, hope, and faith.

As Jupiter joins with Neptune in April—the defining transit of 2022—we may even notice our dreams coming true. Our hearts are opening to include more love, peace, and profundity. We’re caring for each other more and establishing higher-frequency relationships. Magic, auspicious coincidences, and even miracles are possible.

SATURN-URANUS SQUARE

The Saturn-Uranus square of 2021 continues in the background of 2022, though it never becomes exact. Saturn will square the Lunar Nodes during the first part of 2020, while Uranus conjoins the North Node during Spring’s eclipse season. As we clean up the karma of past mistakes and fundamental misunderstanding, breakthroughs are inevitable. We can’t ignore our ruts and blockages, particularly around relationships, money, self-worth, and the environment. Upheaval is inevitable as the planets push us to release all that we’ve outgrown. 

SHIFT OF THE LUNAR NODES
ONTO THE TAURUS-SCORPIO AXIS

As the Lunar Nodes shift signs on January 20, moving backwards from Gemini-Sagittarius onto the Taurus-Scorpio axis, we’re dropping from our minds into our bodies, placing a greater emphasis on sensuality and sexuality. Physical and romantic connection hold keys to our evolution, and we’re orienting to them with greater maturation and sacredness.

On the shadow side, climate change and natural disaster become more pressing, but they will lead to major collective shifts and innovation. The emphasis on what’s essential will include vital questions about food, farming, money, and housing. It’s time to create a world that’s more sustainable for everyone, and for the Earth herself. We can work together to establish whole new systems that provide more ease, and less struggle.

VENUS + MARS RETROGRADE

This shift in love is especially prominent as Venus and Mars retrograde this year, recalibrating our desires. We begin the year with Venus retrograding through Capricorn, helping us go inward and question our desires and commitments.

What work do we need to undergo to clean up the past as we make room for relationships marked by greater intentionality and integrity?

Mars stations retrograde in Gemini October 30–December 31, 2022, pausing our momentum so we can think about our anger, contention, and inner masculine. With many choices looming, this transit is pushing us to reflect and become more decisive. We’re looking back at past tumult in politics and our personal lives, rectifying any pain of division or triggering. We’re also becoming more communicative with loved ones, uniting our minds and bodies while becoming more open and steady partners.

2022 ECLIPSES

The four eclipses of 2022 occur in the Spring and Fall, bringing tremendous heat. Some key issues from 2021 return for a reckoning. America is having her Pluto Return all year, and we’re likely to experience crisis around money and climate change. With Uranus lighting up these eclipses, innovation is key in resolving our issues. We’re ready to embrace progress and entirely new systems and approaches. Any attempts to assert old values and outdated models onto current problems will not succeed. It’s time for reinvention and novel ideas.

JUPITER IN ARIES

Jupiter moves into Aries from May 10 until October 28, 2022, then again on December 20. As the Great Benefic moves into the sign of enthusiasm and leadership, we’ll feel the rumbles of a fresh start. We’re emerging from the sleepiness of Jupiter in Pisces, feeling more motivated, clear, and energized. After fantasizing, daydreaming, and checking out, we’re ready for action.

JUPITER RETURNS TO PISCES

Luckily, Jupiter is back in Pisces during the fall of 2022, offering her loving support. We can find our way out of needless division as we push toward innovation, cooperation, and finding common ground. After all, we’re on the road to creating enlightened society—a world that we reimagine from a place of love, simplicity, sacredness, and abundance for everyone.
