August begins inside a lightning storm. The much-anticipated Mars-Uranus-North Node conjunction is occurring in Taurus, bringing a surge of electric potential and unpredictability. Currently, Uranus is at 18º Taurus, where he remains on and off until mid-May 2023. We are ready to birth something fresh. Over the next nine months, we have time to gestate and move through any discomfort or fear as the planets undergo a battle between the past and the future.

This is a period of breakthrough, the release of old patterns, and a massive restructuring of our beings, lives, and the world at large. Chaos, redirection, liberation, and profound insights are now likely. After years of destroying the old paradigm and dancing on the edge of the new, we’ll notice an explosion of change and innovation, along with newfound optimism. The impossible is becoming possible at a rapid pace, both personally and collectively.

AUGUST Transits  

MARS CONJUNCT THE NORTH NODE + URANUS

On August 1, Mars joins the North Node and Uranus at 18° Taurus. This triple conjunction is one of the biggest transits of the year—one that’s been building for months as we’ve felt the pain of our stuckness and developed the awareness and tools to self-liberate. Mars is now activating all of this work, pushing us off our cliffs of doubt and into real change.

We can make best use of these energies by staying present and aware—not shying away from breakthrough because we’re too afraid or tenuous. We can trust that anything that’s arising now is operating in our best interest. While uncomfortable, the North Node helps us evolve as souls and fulfill our life’s true purpose.

VENUS ENTERS LEO

On August 11, Venus enters Leo, sparking romantic displays and dramatic creative outpouring. This is a beautiful moment to express our feelings with fearlessness, humor, and flair, encouraging others to reveal their own authentic selves as well.

AQUARIUS FULL MOON

Also on August 11, the Full Moon arrives at 19° Aquarius, falling conjunct Saturn and square to Uranus and the Nodes. This Full Moon is heavy but offers a release valve for any anxiety or tension that have accumulated in our process of profound change. We’re ready to take responsibility for our future. We can do whatever’s necessary to free ourselves from past burdens. Harnessing maturity and discipline, we can trust that our efforts will pay off. We’re in a dynamic process of shedding old versions of ourselves. As we begin to exit our cocoons, we can feel the excitement of what’s to come.

MARS ENTERS GEMINI

Mars enters Gemini on August 20—which holds more importance than usual. Mars will stay in this sign for seven months because of his upcoming retrograde. Gemini supports innovation and invention, which are major themes after Uranus joined the North Node. With Mars in the sign of intelligence, education, politics, and debate, more interesting and heated dialogue and collaborations may arise. However, retrogrades slow us down, forcing us to look inward and apply patience. We are recalibrating our anger and inner masculine, questioning the areas of life that both Mars and Gemini rule. Fighting could cease as we rethink old arguments. Above all, it’s important to reflect and remain curious, balancing our racing thoughts with grounded practices that bring us back to our hearts and physical bodies.

SUN ENTERS VIRGO

On August 22, the Sun enters Virgo. We can take this opportunity to shift from Leo’s playfulness and exuberance into more practicality and intentionality. What isn’t working? What needs closer attention and reorganization? We can harness Virgo’s purity, clarity, and attention to detail to prepare for the new season.

URANUS STATIONS RETROGRADE

Uranus stations retrograde on August 24, still at 18° Taurus. We’re returning to the July 31 conjunction with North Node, revisiting themes that the original conjunction sparked so we can further unpack them. Breakthroughs and flashes of knowing are possible. It would be wise to stay alert to messages coming in—writing them down to reflect upon later. Uranus is the planet of rebellion and invention, while Taurus is the sign of money, resources, the feminine, relationships, our values, environmentalism, and food and farming. We have the chance to recalibrate our relationships to these Taurean topics. How can we establish more novel approaches that align with the new paradigm? How can we call on our ingenuity to rework the structures of society?

VIRGO NEW MOON

A New Moon arrives on August 27 at 4° Virgo, squaring Mars in Gemini. Normally, this would create considerable tension and conflict. However, Mars is forming a Grand Air Trine with Mercury and Pluto. We can now meet our anger and disagreements, working through them with productive conversations and revelations of truth. We’re clarifying what we want and finding the courage and proper words to express ourselves. With Venus opposite Saturn and square to Uranus and the North Node, our relationships are shifting dramatically. We’re finding new commitments and approaches that are more evolved, both individually and collectively.

AUGUST Summary

August holds the start of profound breakthrough and electric change, which are already underway as the month begins. A major triple conjunction between Mars, Uranus, and the North Node is exact on August 1, sparking chaos and shock that ultimately lead us to our highest potentials. The Aquarius Full Moon mid-month will help us release any pent-up discomfort and trepidation as the planets catapult us into our future lives and selves. Relationships are recalibrating as we become more authentic, honest, and resolved about what we want. By the end of the month, the Virgo New Moon occurs at the same time as a Grand Air Trine. We’re sorting through the details of our new paths, communicating clearer than ever. Truth abounds, and our pure intentions are shining through. The future paradigm is coming into being—dreams that keep teasing us are now emerging into reality more fully. Innovation, invention, and positive surprises are now saturating the scene, helping this wild, fresh version of the future to finally take hold.

AUGUST ASPIRATION

In the midst of lightning storms, floods, fires, and uncertainty, may we stay grounded in our hearts and hold to our visions of a more aligned future. May we find the courage to shed the past, breaking free of old ruts as we finally see the sprouts of a new paradigm.
