The Cancer Full Moon:
Emotional Replenishment

by Juliana McCarthy

The Cancer Full Moon arrives on Monday at 3:47pm Pacific Time, falling opposite to shadowy Pluto. We are ready for deep emotional transformation as we connect with our yearnings for comfort, closeness, and security. Mercury and Venus are in retrograde, and we can take things really slow right now as we hibernate and integrate old feelings. With this Full Moon, we can release some of our fears and emotional buildup—within a nest of self-nurturing. It’s time to connect with silence and the truth that lies deep within ourselves.

On a larger scale, this Full Moon falls on the same degree as America’s Pluto Return. This will arrive next month and continue to form throughout the year. A karmic reckoning and subsequent alchemical shift are ready for crescendo in the U.S., triggering rebirth.

Meanwhile, the day after the Full Moon, Uranus stations direct in Taurus, and we’re already feeling some earth-shaking effects. Uranus represents shock and breakthrough, and Taurus rules the Earth. An underwater volcano already erupted in Tonga, triggering multiple tsunamis. In two days, the lunar nodes will shift along the Taurus-Scorpio axis, furthering this sort of earthly crisis. We are likely to experience more life-altering environmental disasters at increasing frequency over the next eighteen months. Our focus is changing from the mental to the physical—to our resources and basic needs. Ultimately, we’re learning how to simplify our lives and surrender to profound change. [Read more about the shift of the lunar nodes in my 2022 article.]

But on today’s Full Moon, we can turn to our own personal lives and needs—

How can we feel more at home within ourselves, more cared for by family and close friends? How can we nurture ourselves better so we can show up for others, without feeling depleted?

By now, we’ve learned how much we’re capable of—how our hearts can open to the unexpected and how we can survive under trying circumstances. We can trust in our adaptability, wisdom, and compassion as we continue to transition into the next iteration of humanity, offering what we can to create a more enlightened society. As this Full Moon reminds us, it all begins inside ourselves, with our own personal healing.

CANCER FULL MOON ASPIRATION

On this Cancer Full Moon, may we rest under cozy blankets, replenishing ourselves emotionally. May we feel loved and cared for, at home within ourselves and ready for any surprises that we meet.
