July 4, 2016 — Major aspects surround today's New Moon, which falls in the maternal, emotional sign of Cancer. The Sun, Moon, and Mercury are joined together and opposing Pluto, expanding our sense of security and self-sufficiency, while softening and feminizing our relationship to power. We are growing into ourselves as embodied beings who can simultaneously connect with the expansiveness of Spirit. With the North Node lit up, we are also deepening our understanding of purpose, as we do our small parts to help shift humanity out of the depths of materialism. 

Since today is America’s birthdate, this Moon represents a new cycle for the nation—one which is working towards more gentleness, love, and kindness. All arrows are pointing towards our intimate orbits, helping us to see that we can transform the world by offering our compassion and light to those closest to us. Small acts of kindness could potentially tip the world into an enduring orientation towards good.

This New Moon also ignites Neptune-square-Saturn, jolting us into reality, and helping us to release illusions and deception. Even on a personal level, fantasies out of synch with reality are exploding like fireworks. In romance, if we are still clinging to past lovers or unrequited loves, we have the chance to finally release our painful longing while opening ourselves to the possibility of a new person and more evolved ways of relating.
