October 30, 2016 — Today brings an alchemical and magical New Moon, which falls in the dark, rich sign of Scorpio. This is a time of deep inner work and healing, when we may undergo the rewarding task of facing ourselves, our lives, and each other, with honesty and fearlessness—clearing the way for healthy, whole relationships. We are learning to look in the mirror more fully so we can understand our gifts with humility, and acknowledge our challenges with neutrality. As we do so, we are participating in the real work of Scorpio: loving ourselves fully so we may open to intimacy—both with ourselves and each other.

New Moons are the best times to set intentions. Today, we could decide consciously to commit ourselves to unconditional love, and to surrender all obstacles in the way. We could choose to face ourselves with determination and courage, confronting our fears, wounds, and mistakes, which creates more space for liberation. Then the Universe will conspire to help us.

What happens if we do this work with another person? What happens if we face not only ourselves with courage and honesty, but also each other? With universal support, we now have the opportunity to expose ourselves to others, to learn to become fearless warriors, sharing whatever we are afraid to say. This is the definition of true intimacy. If we are willing, we can call in our soulmates, release partners who are no longer serving us, and dive much deeper into all relationships.

As we look to this month's magic and darkness, we may recognize that we are making room for more light. The more darkness we face, the more we can let go and open our hearts to love. As we continue to release unhealthy patterns and solid beliefs, we are expanding our understanding to include the notion that there is no such thing as 'bad'—that every thought, emotion, and circumstance contains potential awakening, and a pathway to unconditional love. As we surrender, we will see that each moment contains a universe within it that is whole, complete, and free.
