January 6, 2023 — The Full Moon forms in sensitive Cancer on Friday, opposite Mercury retrograde in Capricorn. Emotions run high as we consider the past and face unfinished personal business and relational issues. With Chiron squaring the Sun and Moon, we may feel extra vulnerable as old wounds and childhood pain surface for the sake of healing. 

This is a good moment to honor our inner children and let ourselves feel what we feel, finding the balance between irrational eruptions and the need for practical action, boundaries, and responsibilities. We can pause to listen to our strongest yearnings and the messages rising from our subconscious minds.

Psychic abilities are heightened, and we can meditate and tune into our hearts and intuition to see what knowledge and wisdom are ready to come forth. A Mercury cazimi forms on January 7, the day after the Full Moon—when Mercury, Earth, and the Sun all line up exactly. As our emotions spill over, we’re emptying our cups in order to invite new clarity and insights.

Our pain will be very obvious by now, with Mercury and Mars retrograding and the Full Moon forming just after Venus conjoined with explosive Pluto. The planets are preparing us for new chapters, showing us where we need to heal so that we can become more whole and harmonious within ourselves and in our relationships. 

We shouldn’t be surprised if we run into people who we have unresolved karma with. We can approach these situations with fresh eyes and greater empathy for all, noticing where we still have work to do.

As we prepare for new energies to open up in March, we can see which of our patterns are ready to shift and release. We are in an alchemical process of recalibration as we shed old skin and embrace higher frequencies of self. All the while, we can maintain our integrity, mindfulness, and care, making sure that our decisions align with our ultimate values and goals.

In the soft light of the Cancer Full Moon, may we empty our cups and prepare for new energies to pour in. May we find the balance between vulnerability and strength—diving into our deep capacities to feel as we uphold our principles and commit to inner growth.
