June 29, 2022 — The Cancer New Moon arrives tonight at 7:52pm Pacific Time, squaring bold Jupiter in Aries while conjoining with the asteroid Black Moon Lilith, who represents the unbridled sexual feminine. This is a wild and emotional New Moon, ready to catapult us onto a fierce new trajectory.

Cancer is emotional, maternal, and protective, while Lilith is what I call the “Big No” of the feminine. Lilith was Adam’s first wife in the Bible, and she refused to submit to him, believing that they were created equal, both made from the dust of the Earth. Lilith fled the garden of Eden to gain independence. Adam told God, who sent angels to retrieve her. They threatened to kill her children if she disobeyed them, but she refused. The angels killed her children, and after that, she unleashed her fury onto the world. She’s considered a demon in Christianity and a hero of feminism.

This New Moon is eliciting our wrathful inner feminine. The Moon is squaring exaggeratory Jupiter in Aries, and we are feeling big emotions as we defend our beliefs and morals. We are ready to fight for equality and independence. On a personal level, we are feeling more embodied in the strength of our vulnerability and emotional expression.

Venus has been pummeled by the outer planets lately—first joining with shocking Uranus, then forming angles to karmic, constrictive Saturn and transformative Pluto. Venus represents money, justice, relationships, and the feminine, and this New Moon now offers a turning point. We can anchor into what’s most important to us and feel the support of loved ones as we stand up for egalitarianism and what we know is right.

This is the contraction before birth. It’s good to remember that we are still purifying and destroying the old paradigm as we continue to step towards the Aquarian Age, a new two-thousand-plus year cycle in humanity. The past is chafing against the future, trying to slow down the inevitable. Aquarius is a humanitarian who makes sure that all individuals are empowered so that we can establish a more evolved society—one where all beings have their basic needs met as a bare minimum. This way, everyone can attain enlightenment.

With Jupiter in warlike Aries, the planets are calling us to actively fight against the mistreatment of women and any other group of people that our society continues to oppress. The sooner we begin to honor all beings as worthy, equal, and profoundly lovable, the sooner we can stop our needless fighting and begin to inhabit the new age.

On this Cancer New Moon, may we harness the strength of our inner feminine, feeling maternal love as our ferocity and power. May we generate fearless empathy as we work to establish an egalitarian new age.
