July 17, 2023 — A Cancer New Moon forms on Monday, opposite Pluto, Lord of the Underworld. We may feel a swell of emotions as we yearn to feel safe. In the background, the lunar nodes are preparing to change signs on the same day. They’re moving onto the Aries-Libra axis while squaring Pluto and the Sun. This means that the south node is wrapping up an eighteen-month journey in Scorpio.

We are now in the cauldron of deep shadow work and karmic purgation, delving into family traumas and attachment wounds. We’re finding ways to heal and transform our selves, our sense of belonging, and how we perceive home—even the one inside of us. 

We’re also learning to become more secure within ourselves and our relationships. With support from Uranus and Neptune, newfound spiritual awakening and freedom are possible as long as we can sit upright and allow ourselves to feel. We’re extending unconditional love, grace, and forgiveness to our most authentic selves and to others as well.

We may be feeling touchy or fearful—our vulnerabilities from childhood activated, our passions ignited. But Pluto teaches us to surrender and trust. The planets are alchemizing us from the inside out—helping us shed outworn layers, habituations, and patterns. If we can invite our demons as our honored guests, we’ll be able to dance with our pain and relish in the intensity of healing. If we stop resisting, we’ll see that all is perfect as it is, even if we’re uncomfortable and needing to change.

We can relax our shells and pincers, allowing all that we feel to move through us, without sticking. We’re learning to expose ourselves without unnecessary protection or doubt, and without internalizing another person’s wounding.

CANCER NEW Moon Aspiration

On this Cancer New Moon, may we relinquish our insecurities and defenses, allowing the strength of vulnerability to overtake us. May we stop resisting our pain, allowing it to move through us, dislodging all that’s been blocking us from tenderness and loving ourselves as we are.
