July 5, 2024 — A Cancer New Moon forms on Friday, conjunct amorous Venus while trining disciplined Saturn. This is a steady and loving lunation that’s supporting us in feeling cozy, nested, and connected with home, family, and close friends. Cancer helps us feel our buried emotions and heal through their release. With Saturn grounding us, we can take this opportunity to take good care of ourselves, allowing our feelings to rise and percolate in us without losing control.

Two intense transits involving the planets of love and sex are on the horizon—Venus is moving towards an opposition with volcanic Pluto, exact on July 12, and Mars is tightening his orb with wild Uranus, exact on July 15. This means that rest and anchoring are extra important as we prepare for imminent shifts in love, sexuality, values, and direction. Relationships are changing dramatically and we’re releasing tensions and passions that have been bubbling up.

While big shifts and explosions of energy can be difficult, they also help us release stagnation, stuckness, and repression. We are touching in with our deeper longings and desires and opening gateways to more authentic conversation. Insights abound, and we may suddenly find ourselves on different paths that feel freer and more aligned.

With Venus in Cancer squaring Chiron we may feel wounds coming up around our relationships, confidence, finances, families, or even our countries. We’re healing and noticing what feels important to us and most like home. In some ways we may be nostalgic for something we long for, or sad about whatever we’re needing to release. The best thing we can do is retreat, heal, and draw our loved ones close, releasing old emotions as we prepare for fresh energy and transformation.
