June 20, 2020 — A powerful and emotional Total Solar Eclipse arrives on Saturday, at 11:40pm Pacific Time. This is the most potent eclipse of the year, in a year of six eclipses. A ring of fire will form around this eclipse, an apt metaphor for the collective transformation that is underway. Falling at 0° Cancer, this eclipse is eliciting strong currents of emotions, such as outrage, pain, and empathy. We are in a period of intense purification, as we confront the past to make room for a new paradigm.

Falling close to the Solstice, this Eclipse marks a significant rebirth and the start of large-scale awakening. We’re ready to open to a whole new dimension, which is beginning to rise from the collective fires of pain and destruction.

Now, the planets are encouraging us to step into spiritual warriorship—to become protectors of tenderness, who emanate maternal love. We’re learning to stand up against oppression and insist on a world that’s rooted in justice, equality, compassion, and truth. With increased clarity, we are realizing that taking a stand is a much more spiritual act than silence or avoidance.

It would serve us to take some time and remember why we’re here on Earth to begin with—to establish a world where all beings have the chance to awaken. First and foremost, this means making sure that we are all safe, protected, and cared for, just because we exist. On this Cancer Solar Eclipse, we are finally receiving this lesson from the Great Mother, after an eighteen-month journey under her command. All beings must have their basic needs met, no matter what.

With Mars squaring the lunar nodes, we are also supported in cutting ties with whatever has been holding us back from our highest potentials. Anger and frustration are becoming our swords of wisdom, cutting through harmful belief systems and oppression. Cancer and Mars are the major players of this week—our tenderness and strength joining together, our sharp insights intertwining with our soft compassion.

At the same time, Mercury is retrograding through Cancer. This is a time of tremendous recalibration and review of our history and the stories we’ve been told. With the North Node in Cancer conjunct the eclipse, we are applying our objective awareness to purify the lies we’ve propagated and believed in.

This is an exciting moment to be alive—when the light is finally beginning to subsume the darkness, and our inner feminine is beginning to rule as we overturn oppressive powers. By all means, this isn’t easy. It’s requiring us to stay with our discomfort, rally our courage, find our stillness, and never close our hearts.

But we were made for these times. We can do our best to practice exquisite self-care, so we can then offer ourselves to the collective shift in the most meaningful ways possible. The light is returning to Earth if we continue to do our parts.

As they say, the new guru is the sangha, and the new royalty is all of us working together for the collective good.

Traditionally, a solar eclipse means the falling of a king if there’s an imbalance of power. We’re standing alert, ready for the fall, as we rise together as a sea of individuals—radiating heart, strength, and cooperation.

On this Total Solar Eclipse during Solstice, may we celebrate the light that is beginning to return to Earth. May we find our stillness and strength, offering our hearts and resources so we may break from the past and build an enlightened society—based on empathy, wakefulness, and profound care for all.
