A Capricorn New Moon arrives on January 2, at 10:33am Pacific Time, planting the first seeds of 2022. A supportive trine from Uranus brings feelings of renewal and the possibility for practical change. With the Sun, Moon, Venus retrograde, Pluto, and Juno all forming a stellium in steady Capricorn, we’re beginning the year with a slow start. Saturn-ruled Capricorn is careful and intentional, while Venus retrograde is drawing us into her period of introspection. We may experience quiet breakthroughs as we take note of our emotional and relational maturation, which we’ve attained over the past couple of years.

We’ve been undergoing much change and transformation since 2020, with Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto forming life-altering conjunctions in Capricorn. Most of this has played out on the collective stage. Now, the focus is personal, and we’re turning our gazes toward our own internal worlds—toward how we think, speak, and love.

Chiron squares the New Moon, and we may feel some vulnerability and wounding arising for the sake of healing. We’re unpacking old relationship traumas and questioning our values and self-worth. What and who are most important to us? How can we reconfigure our lives to achieve more sanity and peace?

Capricorn rules career and the house of external offerings, and we could now determine our goals and how we want to contribute to the world, in big ways or small.

What plans can we formulate in order to build our visions into reality?

As we do this, we can remember that there’s no hurry. Our well-being comes first, and we’re still in a period of careful reflection and healing. Our forward momentum will increase in the spring. But for now, we are laying the groundwork, with prudence and deliberation, so that our dreams can become real.
