February 1, 2024 — February begins with Pluto at 0º Aquarius, eliciting a fresh purge of shadows, fears, and traumas. We’re transforming together, peeling back the layers of the onion on both personal and collective levels. We may be thinking, “Why aren’t we there yet? Why are we still facing enormous obstacles when the future has felt so close?”

In some ways, we’re starting a new chapter of an existing journey. We’re going deeper into removing blocks and elevating to higher levels of consciousness. With the world in crisis, the planets are calling us to rally our spiritual warriorship. Keeping our backs strong and our hearts soft, we can generate the warmth of compassion and the coolness of clear seeing. We may teeter between hope and despair—wanting to give up while feeling that more is possible than ever before. This is a challenging time, but we can do it. Look at what we’ve accomplished already.

Anxiety, chaos, and the potential for violence are in the air. This is especially true as the Full Moon squares Uranus on February 9, while Mars, planet of anger and passion, crosses volcanic Pluto on February 14. This will likely be a dramatic Valentine’s Day. If we breathe and surrender, we’ll initiate a new cycle of love a few days later when Venus, planet of romance, crosses Pluto. This is the time to either work through existing relational problems or to initiate connections and creative projects—ones that are healing, intimate, and true.

The New Moon conjoins with Saturn and Mercury towards the end of the month, and we are stabilizing and calming down. 2024 promises to be a wild year of rapid change. The more we take care of ourselves, returning to simplicity and peace from within, the more we’ll be able to hold and heal. We can find solace in numbers, remembering that so many are awakening and developing the ability to embrace pain and pleasure, harsh truth and hope—all at once. We change the world as our hearts join together. Why else would we be on our spiritual paths if not to feel the depths of our suffering, to heal, and to offer it for the benefit of all?

February 2024 TRANSITS

MERCURY ENTERS AQUARIUS, CONJOINS PLUTO

Mercury, planet of thoughts and communication, enters electric Aquarius on February 5, immediately conjoining with transformative Pluto. Our minds and thoughts hold more power today, and if we meditate and work with these energies carefully, we could experience profound insights and breakthroughs. Our words also carry extra weight, so we can be mindful of how we communicate—not exploding into harmful attacks. If we’ve been caught in silent suffering, we may find ourselves bursting forth, sharing a volcano of thoughts that could help us unstick from long-standing ruts. Social and political issues may also reach a boiling point around this transit.

AQUARIUS NEW MOON

An Aquarius New Moon forms on February 9 in a tense square with Uranus in Taurus. Anxieties and chaos are kicked into high gear, and we can make extra effort to find ground. If we’ve been stubborn or caught in a holding pattern, we could find ourselves breaking free. The planets are slingshotting us onto our next trajectories.

MARS ENTERS AQUARIUS, CONJOINS PLUTO

Mars, planet of vitality and aggression, enters Aquarius on February 13, joining alchemical Pluto on February 14—Valentine’s Day. This is an explosive, angry, and volatile transit, promising drama, high passion, and potentially violence. If we’ve been shy about expressing our desires, we will now feel a surge of confidence and directness. It would be wise to lay low and let off steam, physically or creatively. We are ready to break through our fears and take leaps towards our deepest yearnings.

VENUS ENTERS AQUARIUS, CONJOINS PLUTO

Venus, planet of love, enters Aquarius on February 16, joining Pluto the next day—the third personal planet undergoing powerful transformation. After the potential conflicts of Mercury and Mars conjoining Pluto, Venus could now bring us deep, lasting love and peace. We’re beginning a whole new relationship cycle, emerging from our cocoons into new dimensions of authenticity and connection. Reconciliation, understanding, and true intimacy require confrontation, and if we’re willing to step into the fires with another person or an opposing side, we have the opportunity for alchemical healing.

SUN ENTERS PISCES

The Sun enters Pisces on February 18, helping us release some anxiety, contention, and anger as we dissolve into unity, forgiveness, and love. Our hearts can now soften and our dreams become more vivid. Peace and acceptance are available to us in abundance.

VENUS CONJUNCT MARS IN AQUARIUS

On February 21, Venus is conjunct Mars at 6° Aquarius, offering us a passionate and romantic day—more so than Valentine’s Day this year. Pluto is still nearby, at 0° Aquarius, deepening the conjunction. On a collective scale, we are finding peace and rising together to make grand changes as we rebel, revolt, and break out of unhealthy patterns. On a more personal level, this is a potent time to be in community and to feel unity and camaraderie with friends and groups. Our relationships are healing as we speak our truth, move through our fears, and work through challenges, together.

VIRGO FULL MOON

A Virgo Full Moon forms on February 24, falling between Saturn and Mercury. After a month of discord, chaos, and love, we are returning to steady ground. Realism and practicality rule as we put one foot in front of the other and find healthy approaches to our emotions, families, projects, and relationships. We’re committing to what brings us joy as we blend Pisces’ dreaminess and magic with Virgo’s sensibility.

MERCURY + SATURN CAZIMIS

A Mercury and Saturn Cazimi form on February 27 and 28, respectively. Clarity abounds—a welcome relief after the disruptive and raw energies of the month. Our minds are sharp and our boundaries intact. We may have a firmer grasp on where we’re going than we have for a while. So much is still unknown and unwritten, but we are clearer about our direction, especially as our hearts and relationships feel stronger and more healed. This is the time to call on support, to create functional systems of love and acceptance that can carry us through the storms of rebirth.

In the midst of potent transformation, may we surrender to the fires of change, allowing for suffering and joy to coexist. May we persevere, facing the truth of ourselves and the world while never giving up on our highest potentials.
