SAGITTARIUS FULL MOON:
AWAKENING through others

May 21, 2016 — Today's Full Moon in Sagittarius is a big one, and we might be feeling some intensity. This Moon is surrounded by major influences, including a Mars-Venus opposition that lines up perfectly with the Moon and Sun, presenting an opportunity to harmonize what is still out of whack within ourselves, our relationships, and communities. With Mars in retrograde, a big theme is not only healing relationships and groups of friends, but also repairing the masculine altogether. Mars Retrograde is a period of reviewing our societal approach to masculinity and seeing where there is wounding. Fortunately, the male and female planets are balancing each other now, bringing great equilibrium to the process, which bodes well for seismic healing.

In fact, many astrological indicators point to this Full Moon as pivotal in our collective awakening. The emphasis now is on ‘other’—on having the strength and courage to realize that other people are not to blame for our suffering. They are beautiful (if frustrating) mirrors that show us where we still need to heal and let go. We have moved past the age of Pisces, the age of awakening through asceticism. Rather than moving into a cave and away from society, we have shifted into an era of group enlightenment. We can now rise above the vilification of people who we deem ‘wrong’ and allow wars—big and small—to end with each of us. After all, war begins with two people defending themselves. We have the power to call on our compassion and see the root of anger, without hatred or blame. These are the lessons coming to the surface with this Full Moon—which are planting major seeds of potential peace.

Within each of our communities—groups of friends, families, places of work—we have the possibility to create mini Enlightened Societies, to take responsibility for our struggles, and to relax the places where we still have triggers. As we individually empower ourselves to heal and become the kings and queens of our worlds, taking our seats on thrones of dignity and compassion, we can ignite fires of group awakening that will spread quickly throughout the whole world.

Sagittarius is about embodiment and transforming knowledge into wisdom. With two Full Moons in Sagittarius over the next month, this first one marks the beginning of our journey into true embodiment of wisdom. We must open to challenges that arise and find the courage to see ourselves clearly in order to heal. With twenty-eight days until the next Sagittarius Full Moon, may we dive in and embrace this potent, pivotal moment in our societal awakening.
