New Moon/Annular Solar Eclipse at 19º Gemini 42’

June 10, 2021 — The Gemini New Moon Solar Eclipse arrives on Thursday at 3:52am Pacific Time, conjunct Mercury Retrograde. As the last eclipse of the season, it closes the eclipse vortex, ending a period of karmic compression and powerful lessons. This is an annular Solar Eclipse, which means the Moon will obscure the Sun except for a halo of light. It reminds us of the potential for rebirth and the hope that remains, even in times of uncertainty.

Now, it’s time for a fresh start—for feeling the excitement of what’s to come. The Blood Moon two weeks ago sparked purification around old and stale beliefs, mental patterns, communication, friendships, and ways of socializing. It cleared the path to a new chapter, infused with fresh energies. We can feel inspired about where we go from here—about how we will work together to reimagine our lives, relationships, and society.

How do we envision our lives moving forward? What do we want to learn? Which friendships do we want to cultivate, and how do we want to communicate?

Symbolized by the Twins, Gemini encourages us to open our minds to curiosity, releasing rigid dogma and conviction. The Twins examine situations from every angle, always questioning their knowledge and beliefs. We can now harness Gemini’s wisdom, remembering to stop believing everything we think. We can stay with our feelings while allowing thoughts to arise, without spinning stories around them or taking unnecessary action. We can become more fluid and open-minded, yet at the same time maintain the introspection, self-containment, and intentionality of Mercury Retrograde.

Since Mercury Retrograde forms a square to Neptune, we may feel a cloud of confusion surrounding us, especially if we’ve been operating purely from intellect. It’s time to trust our intuition. We can meditate and clear our minds, allowing our next steps to reveal themselves, rather than angsting or trying to fix and figure things out.

Throughout this year of slowing down and looking inward, we’ve been growing more mature. Recognizing our gifts and struggles with more honesty, we’ve increased our empathy, especially for ourselves. Moving forward, we can embody these lessons. As we socialize, laugh, and talk with our friends and loved ones, we can listen more fully, demonstrating deeper care, reflection, and the capacity to hold paradox in our hearts.

Eclipse Season is never easy, but it helps us speed through our karmic lessons, while pushing us to shed parts of ourselves that we’ve been unable to to let go. Leaving the eclipse vortex, we can now step into the world renewed.

On this Gemini Solar Eclipse, may we embody the wisdom of the Twins, becoming more curious, nuanced, and open-minded. May we step into this new energetic phase, blending intellect with intuition, and humor with great thoughtfulness and care.
