June arrives in the chaos of rebirth as we undergo cathartic and necessary changes, which are requiring us to face our shadows and dismantle both our apathy and disempowering beliefs. This promises to be a wild and potent month, making a strong mark on an otherwise paradigm-shifting year. The eclipse portal is open, Venus is retrograding and crossing the Sun, and the second Jupiter-Pluto conjunction is looming on the horizon, ready to elicit further explosiveness and transformation.

Two eclipses will arrive in June, speeding up our evolution, and calling forth themes of truth, distortion, and communication. We are making sure all voices are heard as we dismantle faulty and oppressive ideologies and systems. Outrage and rebellion are high, and with intention, they can lead us to a better future—one of much greater tolerance and equality. Patience and perseverance are necessary, even as our emotions swell. Justice is ready to prevail, but not without opposition and significant karmic reckonings.

Meanwhile, Venus stations direct on June 24, wrapping up a period focused on love, justice, and cooperation. We’ll remain in her shadow until the end of July, which allows us more time to integrate her lessons. Positive change is more possible than ever if we can muster our spiritual warriorship and own our past mistakes—feeling the discomfort rise in our bodies as it liberates into awareness. We can transmute fear by loving ourselves, even as we feel our shame. We also have the chance to undo internalized oppression and convert our traumas and pain into wisdom, strength, and regality. From here, we’ll be able to destroy the old paradigm and rebuild the new, both within ourselves and in the outer the world—with innovation, unquelled passion, and exquisite care.

The Rebirth of Venus

Venus began her retrograde on May 12. On June 3, Venus crosses the Sun and reappears as a morning star. Questions of identity are on the horizon. 

Have we bought into lies about who we are?

This is a transit that astrologers consider the rebirth of Venus—a significant moment in her retrograde cycle. Venus Retrograde helps us heal our hearts, reconcile with ourselves and others, bring balance to our relationships, and restore justice globally. She encourages us to recalibrate and clear away all that’s been blocking healthy self-concept, collaboration, deeper connection, and unity. 

The rebirth of Venus is a powerful time to culminate heart lessons. It’s an invitation for us to step into new alignments in how we relate to our self-worth and to one another. Falling in Gemini, Venus Retrograde has been teaching us to listen, care more for others, hear our soul’s deepest longings, and make our voices heard—particularly voices that have been quieted. It’s time to establish equality in the collective, and reconciliation in our personal lives—but only after we take thorough inventory and make genuine acknowledgments. In doing so, we have the chance to step into relationships that are wiser, more mature, communicative, and loving, and which stem from healthier places of worthiness and respect. Then, we can work together to shape a more enlightened paradigm.

Sagittarius Full Moon / Lunar Eclipse

The Sagittarius Lunar Eclipse arrives on June 5, the first of three eclipses this summer, eliciting rapid change and purification. Venus Retrograde is conjunct the Gemini Sun, and opposite the eclipse. We’re learning to better communicate and listen, and to make sure all voices heard. We’re uprooting limiting beliefs about ourselves and others and learning to listen more, with openness and clarity.

With Mars squaring the Sun and Moon, our anger is heightened, but we could now harness it righteously, directing it towards peace. We are in the process of large-scale transformation as we make room for all feelings to arise, with space and empathy. We’re ready to take greater responsibility for harm we’ve caused, to ourselves and others. 

Chiron is still squaring the Lunar Nodes, and this continues to be a time of profound healing. We are resolving karma from this and from past lives, from our own decisions and those of our family’s and ancestors’. After doing this work, we can establish new shared ideals and much more meaningful and truthful frameworks of morality.

Mercury Retrograde in Cancer

The second Mercury Retrograde of the year begins on June 17, in the sign of gentle, emotional Cancer. We now have the chance to carefully consider our thoughts and words. We can become more sensitive in the way we speak, while more carefully considering the stories we tell ourselves. 

What stories have shaped our thinking? Have they been distorted? Have they caused unnecessary damage in how we relate to ourselves or others?

This is a potent time to go inward and listen, with exquisite attention, to both our pain and others’.

Solstice + Cancer New Moon / Solar Eclipse

The Solstice on June 20 brings the start of Cancer Season, as well as a Cancer Solar Eclipse. In a year of six eclipses, this is the most powerful of them all. Falling close to the Solstice, this Eclipse marks significant rebirth and the start of large-scale awakening. We’re ready to ascend to a whole new dimension. The ground is rumbling, and the sprouts of the new paradigm are beginning to rise from our collective waste. What we grow will depend on the work we do now, in our minds and hearts.

Venus stations direct on June 24, marking another powerful time for peace, justice, and recalibration.

Jupiter Conjunct Pluto

The second of three Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions arrives on June 29, one of the most major transits of 2020, sparking a significant moment for us to rise from the ashes of our shared destruction. The first conjunction of the year was in April, the last will be in November. Global financial markets often experience upheaval during these transits. Jupiter represents our belief systems, and Pluto symbolizes death and rebirth. This means that on a large scale, we are transmuting our belief systems. We’re ready to alchemize our ideals and morality, and face the truth of where we’ve gone wrong in the world and within ourselves. We are in the throes of major collective fires. Our passions are ready to destroy and re-conceive humanity as we know it. We can join hands and apply our courage to rebuild the world with greater integrity, while making sure all beings have their basic needs met, and that we treat everyone with decency, respect, and deep empathy. In order to arrive here, we need to find the strength to face ourselves, honestly and lovingly.

Birth requires pain and uncertainty. If we open to our discomfort, we can co-create miraculous new life. More ease and flow are possible if we work together with bravery, clarity, intention, and love.

June Summary

In a year of cathartic, paradigm-shifting planetary alignments, June will be memorable. The eclipse portal is open, Venus Retrograde is crossing the Sun and stationing direct, and Jupiter is about to make an explosive second contact with Pluto. Our beliefs, values, and the world as we know it are ready for profound rebirth. First, we must destroy all that is out of alignment with justice, truth, equality, and compassion. Our anger is unleashing as we stand up for what is just and true, and dismantle our apathy and internalized oppression. Eclipse season always speeds up change and purification, and with three eclipses occurring this summer, as Pluto and Jupiter form an combustible conjunction, we can open to what are destined to be more life-altering events. The feminine is empowering, and Venus, queen of the Goddesses, is making sure that we are moving toward loving ourselves, as we face our shame, outrage, and grief. She’s helping us clean up our relationships and operate from our heart’s truest longings, and from our deep dignity and trust in ourselves and our own experiences. We no longer have to placate an abusive hierarchy or subscribe to a society that enslaves or harms any of us, with no regard. We are all interconnected, and we can heal our traumas, individually and collectively, and begin to weave together fabric for a new society, a new way of being human, that is rooted in deep self-love, and from there, unflappable empathy. The future is unwritten, and it’s up to each of us to do this work within ourselves and our communities, and to encourage others to do the same with clarity, patience, passion, and open hearts.

From the fires of rebirth, may we feel the strength of our dignity and open hearts. May we work together to stand up to traumatized forces that are perpetuating systemic harm and hierarchical abuse—and from the chaos and destruction, build a better world.
