March 1, 2024 — March begins with electric jolts, as the shock and abrupt change promised by 2024 continue to ramp up. Right away, Venus and Mars form harsh squares to disruptive Uranus, initiating breakthrough, surprise, rebellion, and revolution. Venusian and Martian issues—love, money, justice, sex, anger, creativity—are ready for explosions and hairpin turns. Meanwhile, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, exact on April 20, draws closer—just 3º apart by the end of the month. This is a rare transit that will amplify the bell curve progress and liberation that are now underway.

This month also marks the start of eclipse season, with the first eclipse of the year arriving on March 25. Eclipse season brings karmic compression. Timelines speed up, truth is revealed, and we undergo epic release so we can evolve into our higher potentials. On the collective stage, kings historically fall if there’s an imbalance of power, and existing issues magnify.

As Mercury enters his shadow on March 18, surreality and magic take hold. Throughout March, Neptune and Pisces encourage us to let down our walls and surrender, remembering that we are spiritual beings. While it’s important to honor Earth and our humanness fully, we can also tune into ultimate reality—beyond suffering. As the Buddhists say, “This is real; this is not real; this is both real and not real; this is neither real nor not real.” Strengthening our hearts and softening our spines, we can allow ourselves to feel our feelings and let go. This prepares us for the wilder winds of change that lie ahead. In small ways and large, we are contributing to the rebirth of humanity.

March 2024 TRANSITS

VENUS SQUARE URANUS

On March 2 and 3, Venus, planet of love, squares electric Uranus, sparking jolts and sudden shifts in the realms of relationships, peace, justice, art, and pleasure. We may experience positive breakthrough or chaotic disruption. Either way, Uranus is helping us align with our authentic values and desires. Relationships could begin or end suddenly. If we’re already in a relationship, we could harness this energy to try something different. As I always say, we either work with the planets or the planets work us, so it’s best to make good use of this transit.

MARS SQUARE URANUS

On March 9 and 10, Mars, planet of anger and sexuality, squares Uranus. This can mean accidents, explosions, or eruptions of anger and violence. We can ground and slow down, calming the restlessness that leads to impulsivity and overreaction. Fresh action is needed, and something significant is ready to sever or change. If we’ve been holding back our truth or harboring resentment, we may find ourselves bursting forth in surprising, direct expressions of irritation or rage.

PISCES NEW MOON

A Pisces New Moon forms on March 10, opening the eclipse portal—the first eclipse of the season arrives in two weeks. Pisces reminds us to return to love and surrender to our divinity, wholeness, interconnection, and forgiveness. Falling between Saturn and Neptune—a conjunction that becomes exact in 2025—we may feel fatigue or burnout, especially if we’ve been grieving. Much feels out of our control. What can we do to soften our hearts and rest? Meditation, baths, massages, aimless wanders through nature, especially near bodies of water, can help us embody our higher selves and truth. Reconnecting with our spirituality is essential.

VENUS ENTERS PISCES

The next day, on March 11, Venus enters Pisces, filling us with waves of love and compassion. We might take a moment to appreciate everyone and everything. If we’re experiencing sadness or grief, it’s to help us generate more empathy for others. We can honor the beauty of being human, celebrating our pain and joy, our heartbreak and love, all at once.

MERCURY ENTERS HIS SHADOW, CONJOINS THE NORTH NODE + CHIRON

On March 18, Mercury enters his shadow conjunct the North Node and Chiron. This begins a potent retrograde cycle that is meant to help us heal and rapidly evolve, but not without pain. Issues and vulnerabilities around communication are on the table. We may find ourselves having difficult but necessary conversations that bring growth. How have our thoughts and communication been governed by old wounds that still need resolution? Blocked by traumas that still need to be resolved? Falling in Aries, the key is to be honest and direct, to not shy away from conflict or difficult dialogues that could foster evolution for everyone involved.

SUN IN ARIES / EQUINOX

The Sun enters Aries on March 19, marking the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere, the fall in the southern. Day and night are of equal length, and we can generate vitality and courage. We can rally our strength as we peer over the cliff of great change that is yet to come. This also marks the astrological new year—it’s time to feel freshness and take leaps onto whole new trajectories.

LIBRA FULL MOON / LUNAR ECLIPSE

A Libra Full Moon Lunar Eclipse forms on March 25, opening the eclipse vortex—the period of time between two eclipses. Karmic compression, the warping of space and time, and auspicious coincidences now ramp up for the sake of evolution. Falling on the south node, this eclipse is emphasizing our ongoing journey with the south node in relational Libra. We are purifying old relationship patterns and our tendencies to people-please and maintain the status quo out of fear of confrontation. We’re clearing away obstacles to peace and simplicity, recognizing where we’ve been sacrificing our strength, autonomy, and true desires for others.

On the world stage, the eclipse vortex often brings the rise and fall of prominent people as well as major events that rapidly alter our direction. The next eclipse is the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8—the last Great American Eclipse for more than twenty years. In the U.S. and the world at large, power dynamics are restructuring, and at this point, anything can happen.

March 2024 Aspiration

In the throes of great change, may we rally our strength and remember that we are spiritual warriors. Standing on the precipice of massive breakthrough, may we feel our sadness, offer it to the Earth for regeneration, and return to the present moment, again and again.
