December 29, 2022 — Mercury stations retrograde on Thursday in the sign of Capricorn. Mercury retrogrades are periods of introspection and mental recalibration. Our intuitions and psychic communication are strong while our words, logic, travel, and plans could go awry.

This particular Mercury retrograde falls conjunct Venus, planet of love, and Pluto, planet of deep transformation, death, and rebirth. Relational themes are heightened now. We are learning to set better boundaries as we go inward and determine what we truly want.

In the background, Mars is still retrograding, stationing direct on January 12. These two retrogrades will make this New Year’s Day particularly sticky and complex. Patience is required with ourselves and others, since mistakes and triggering are inevitable. It’s time to remain silent and wait until later in January to leap into action, take a risk, or make a significant decision.

Who are we and what do we want? Which direction will we go?

Nothing is obvious now, and it would be wise to avoid jumping to conclusions. We can rest in uncertainty, giving ourselves space and time to reflect and focus on what we need to find ground, internal stability, and peace. Ultimately, we are healing our attachment wounds while learning how to have deeper intimacy—speaking our truths with less fear.
