The Earth’s Awakening

April 22, 2020 — A sensual Taurus New Moon arrives on Wednesday at 10:25pm Eastern Time. Conjoined with Uranus, this is no typical Taurus New Moon. Uranus is infusing shock and uncertainty into the pleasure and steadiness that Taurus usually inspires.

For the next several years, Uranus will continue to ignite shock and revolution in all things Taurus, including money, agriculture, resources, and environmentalism. Wednesday’s Moon acts as a catalyst for these changes. Restlessness may take hold, but its underlying wisdom is ready to usher us into a whole new age. Saturn is forming a square angle to Uranus and the New Moon, and while there’s great tension between the past and the future, we also have the opportunity to create significant and long-lasting changes within the fabric of society.

There is no turning back to the way things were. The more we embrace this, the more we can relax and take advantage of our present circumstances. We are ready to innovate and experiment, to break out of the places where we’ve felt the most stuck and stubborn.

Our systems are falling apart. While that may trigger shakiness and fear, we can recognize how incredible it is that we can now rewrite the script of what it means to be a human being living on our planet. We can stop unnecessary consumption and the harm of the Earth and our fellow humans.

We might also notice how our culture has inspired feelings of lack and desire, prodding us to fill our voids with a surplus of things. We could take this moment to wake up out of a collective mentality that has fueled widespread greed, suffering, and despair.

Meanwhile, Venus is in her shadow zone, preparing to go into retrograde. The ruler of Taurus is ready to lead us through a months-long journey of reflection in the areas of relationships, creativity, and money. The way that we love is ready for recalibration. Where have we been going wrong in our connections with others? Where have we feared intimacy and vulnerability, or failed in our communications?

On this Taurus New Moon, we might stop to consider what it is our soul truly yearns for, on a deeper level. How can we enter into greater openness and curiosity, while listening more? How can we forge more intimate, mutually supportive bonds? We have the chance to unpack our suitcases of love, taking inventory and deciding how we will now proceed.

Until then, Taurus is reminding us to slow down and take pleasure in all that we do—cooking our meals and noticing the flowers, the blueness of the sky, and the symphony of birds. With Uranus right here, we can even experience great awakening as we become present with the phenomenal world and the simplicity of the present moment. Relaxing into our surroundings, we can open to greater insights and multidimensional awareness, which Uranus so readily brings.

From here, we might stop to embrace inevitable change. Conjuring our inventiveness, we can think outside the box and find unusual solutions. We can get off the grid when possible, becoming increasingly self-sufficient within our communities. We have tremendous resources—on the Earth, within ourselves, and among our friends and families. With great rebellion and creative genius, we can find new paths and do our parts, large and small, in establishing a new, saner, and freer paradigm, in which the Earth and our souls are happy and at peace, and we love each other more.

Surrounded by earthly splendor, may we slow down and relish in beauty and pleasure. May our minds expand beyond the expected, as we establish a whole new human paradigm that includes great reverence for Mother Earth, simplicity, and innovation.
