June begins inside the cauldron of eclipse season and Mercury Retrograde, as Saturn prepares for a cataclysmic square with Uranus for the second time this year. Without question, the planets are facilitating great change. We are diving inward, excavating old beliefs and thought patterns while revisiting past relationship wounds that we still haven’t resolved. We now have the chance for deep and lasting liberation. If we do the work with careful discipline, intention, and the willingness to face the truth, the planets are ready to catapult us into our future selves.

The final eclipse of the season arrives on June 10, and a week or so later, Mercury stations direct. New energies are ready to emerge as we turn the page onto a new chapter. Until then, we’re clearing mental blockages, deepening our intuition, and embodying our authenticity. We’re stepping outside of the box, freeing ourselves of “supposed to’s” and old conditioning. On a collective level, we’re deciding how the plot will unfurl. How will we work together to reinvent our lives, relationships, and society?

VENUS MOVES INTO CANCER

June 2 marks the midway point between the two eclipses, offering us a turning point between release and a new beginning.  On this day, Venus enters Cancer, wrapping us in the archetypal Mother’s warm embrace. This is a good time to retreat and surround ourselves with family and close friends. We can cook nourishing food and create cozy spaces, feeling our sensitivity as we heal our wounds and bask in nostalgic memories. With Mars still in Cancer preparing to oppose Pluto, we might also feel a little moody, defensive, and vulnerable. But for now, Venus is helping us soothe our inner Crab.

MARS OPPOSES PLUTO

Mars opposes Pluto on June 5, and we may notice our triggers and paranoias ignited, ready to explode. We can take extra care on this day to lay low and stay with any feelings that arise. What emotions and traumas have we been hiding from? We can now invite these feelings to tea as our honored guests, looking them in the eyes so we can receive their wisdom, without fear.

GEMINI SOLAR ECLIPSE

The Gemini New Moon Solar Eclipse arrives on June 10, conjunct Mercury Retrograde, closing the Eclipse Vortex. This is an annular Solar Eclipse, which means that the Moon is obscuring the Sun except for a halo of light. It reminds us of the potential for rebirth and the hope that remains, even in times of uncertainty. The Solar Eclipse in Gemini marks the opportunity for a fresh start, especially around our mental patterns, communication, friendships, and socializing.

However, Mercury Retrograde is close-by, forming a square to Neptune. A cloud of confusion could overtake us, especially if we’ve been operating purely from our intellect. It’s time to call on our intuition, meditating and clearing our minds so we can find the answers in our hearts. We’re becoming more mature in our interactions with each other after a period of slowing down to look inward. We can now recognize our gifts and struggles with more honesty, relaxing into greater empathy, especially for ourselves.

Eclipse Season is never easy, but it helps us speed through our karma and lessons, while pushing us to shed parts of ourselves that we’ve been unable to let go. Leaving the Eclipse Vortex, we can step into the world renewed.

SATURN SQUARE URANUS

The second Saturn-Uranus square of the year arrives on June 14, with the final square set to arrive in December. This series of squares defines 2021. Saturn represents the past, propriety, and the rules; meanwhile, Uranus is the future and the rebellious rule-breaker. When these planets square off, we experience a battle between the old and the new. This transit is helping us dislodge from the past, both personally and collectively. We are dismantling outworn patterns so that we can step into fresher versions of ourselves.

Progress, equality, and innovation are challenging the status quo, while pragmatism is testing our wild visions and inventions. We’re working to establish new foundations and frameworks so we can find novel approaches to our lives, relationships, politics, money, and society. This is not the time to stay stuck. We have ample potential now to break out of ruts and to experience long-lasting freedom.

While these squares are uncomfortable, they’re here to help. Like lightning, they can bring surprising jolts of clarifying light, while sparking miraculous, much-needed, yet hard-won change.

SUMMER SOLSTICE

The Solstice arrives on June 20, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, the shortest in the Southern. At the same time, the Sun moves into Cancer. Home, family, nurturing, and protection are in order, as the gentle Crab leads us into deeper intimacy, closeness, and healing.

MERCURY STATIONS DIRECT

Mercury stations direct on June 22 in Gemini, which Mercury rules. We’re ready to reclaim our focus, clarity, and intellect. We can stop and reflect on how much we’ve learned during this potent cycle of Mercury Retrograde. From here, we can muster great resolve to carry forward. With curiosity and excitement, we can feel the lessons of this period integrated, a fresh mindset taking hold.

CAPRICORN FULL MOON

The Capricorn Full Moon arrives on June 24. This will be the first Capricorn Full Moon in many years that isn’t colored by Pluto, Lord of the Underworld. Pluto and the Full Moon are now falling at opposite sides of the sign, and the energies should feel quite different from Pluto’s intensity. In fact, Jupiter is sextiling this Moon, offering his expansion and optimism. This is a constructive lunation, encouraging us to build the next iteration of our lives. We might feel practical yet joyful, grounded yet adventurous.

The Capricorn Full Moon marks a culmination of our lessons around discipline and boundaries. We’ve been testing old beliefs and ideals. Now, we can start to reassemble them with firmer boundaries, pragmatism, inspiration, and wisdom. After working hard to upend oppression and abusive power structures over the past few years, we can now focus also on building new ones—marked by progressive values, integrity, and inclusion. Even if some people are on a different page from us, or falling prey to faulty beliefs, we can direct our attention away from fighting the old onto building the peaceful Queendom. Anyone is welcome once they’ve faced their karma, softened their hearts, and relaxed their paranoia. After all, enlightened society requires mutual embrace, infused with sanity, kindness, safety, and tolerance.

VENUS ENTERS LEO

Venus enters Leo on June 27, emphasizing our buoyancy and cheerfulness. We’ve closed the eclipse portal, and we can feel our new energies taking hold. We are leaping forward to make art, dance, fall in love, throw parties, and delight in the pleasures of the world. Even as we face our intensity, make necessary changes, and continue the work hard, we can now celebrate our lives, finding great joy in one another.

JUNE SUMMARY

June is a wild month, with many major, life-altering transits happening at once. We begin inside the volcanic Eclipse Vortex and a cycle of Mercury Retrograde. Change is brewing, especially as we prepare for the second Saturn-Uranus square of the year, the most significant transit of 2021. We’re ready to face difficult truths and break from the past. The electric currents of Uranus will soon rattle us as steady Saturn tests us to make sure that our liberation lasts. We’re undergoing deep work, excavating repressed feelings and traumas while taking inventory of previous relationships. With Venus and Mars moving into Leo, we can remember to have fun and enjoy ourselves, even as we undergo uncomfortable change. The key is to let go of what was, embracing the novel and new. We don’t need to fear the unknown. Our paranoia can relax as we learn to trust ourselves more, setting boundaries and frameworks of safety so we can keep our hearts open. Jupiter in Pisces is in the background, reminding us of unconditional love and unity, even as we stand up for what is just and true. We can feel the excitement of possibility as more of us wake up. The Capricorn Full Moon on June 24 will help us step into optimism and hope as we co-create a new society marked by truth, integrity, and deep care for the Earth and one another. This will require tremendous effort, but we can remember that as we purify our hearts and heal our blockages on a personal level, the Universe shifts accordingly. Jupiter in Pisces is here to remind us of this interconnection. Everything is love in the end, and the Universe lies in each of our hearts.

As the days lengthen and the Sun reaches his height of splendor, may we remember our joy. In the throes of change, may we release the past, along with our fears and paranoias, dancing in the excitement of what’s to come.
