November Astrology:
Evolutionary Explosions

by Juliana McCarthy

We begin November awash with anticipation and edginess, particularly in the United States, where election anxiety is palpable. This month is not for the faint of heart—It’s marked by fogginess, shockwaves, and aggression. We’re beginning to relieve the pressure of Mercury and Mars Retrograde. Adding to the whorl of energies, an eclipse arrives at the end of the month, which could bring important news, truth, and vital shifts.

The silver lining is that our pent-up frustrations will finally release. While we may experience explosions, we’ll at least move forward after a long period of thwarted momentum. It’s almost time to bolt ahead with resolution and strength, hacking through weeds, and meeting old karma head-on. We’ll determine what’s true or false, right or wrong, and take action accordingly.

Whatever happens, we are in this together, and it’s of utmost importance to ground and call forth the people who can support us now, and vice versa. We can tend to our basic needs, and remember the value of a slow walk in nature, touch, nourishing food, and going easy on ourselves.

We’re capable of surviving much more than we think. Above all, we can remember that we are inherently good. Evil is our own closed hearts, and we can stop projecting it onto people and entities outside of us. We can notice where we’re triggered and bow to the person before us, thanking them for showing us where we need to heal. The more we relax and open, calling on our love and forgiveness, the sooner we’ll be able to build a kinder, more unified world.

Ultimately, revolution is coming, leading the way to a more egalitarian world, where we take care of Mother Earth and each other, empower the feminine, and live from higher values of truth, gentleness, and compassion. It’s up to each of us now to hold steady, rally our courage, and prepare for the rollercoaster that lies ahead.

Mercury Stations Direct

November begins with Mercury stationing direct in Libra on November 3, Election Day in the U.S. With this transit, election results won’t become obvious until later on. However, the murkiness is now beginning to clear, our communication improving. Forming an almost exact square to Saturn, we may experience bureaucratic, systematic slowdowns. Everything could take longer to sort through, but we can apply methodical care as we take our time to navigate the chaos and confusion. The Libran influence helps to ensure that fairness and cooperation will prevail.

Mercury Re-enters Scoprio

Mercury direct re-enters Scorpio on November 10. We’re now revisiting and resolving issues that first arose at the end of September. Deeper intimacy and greater emotional maturity are now possible. We are diving into psychological and relational issues, penetrating them with x-ray vision. Paranoia and suspicion may arise, but we have the chance now to uncover deeper truths.

Jupiter Conjunct Pluto

Jupiter’s third and final conjunction to Pluto arrives on November 12. The first occurred in early April, the second at the end of June. Covid spikes are likely, as we undergo an explosion of crises. But we also hold the potential for catharsis and great change. Fears are on high, so we might remember to keep it as simple as possible for ourselves, touch Earth, and focus on our essential needs.

Mars Stations Direct

Mars stations direct on November 14, releasing the pressure valve that began to build at the end of the summer. Relief is likely to come as we steer the ship forward. Since this transit falls in Aries, violent eruptions and impulsivity are likely. It’s time to put on our thinking caps and exert special care before leaping into action or anger. Mars will remain in its shadow zone until the end of January. We need to slow down and harness our intentionality and care as we determine our next steps forward. From here, the planets are ready to catapult us to the next phase.

Scorpio New Moon

The Scorpio New Moon arrives on November 15, offering a little respite from an otherwise stormy month. This New Moon trines spiritual, soothing Neptune, helping us grieve, and call on our love, healing, and forgiveness. The Moon is also sextiling Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto—the major players in this year’s paradigm shift. We have the chance for a gentle but deep fresh start, that calls on our faith in the Universe and our unfolding. We can quiet our minds and feel the profundity supporting us in this painful, but necessary transformation that we’ve been undergoing in our personal lives and the world at large. Relationship healing is now possible as we recognize our shared humanity and make room for the depths of our feelings, triggering, and even insanity. We can allow it all room to breathe, without judgment. We need each other now. It’s time to embrace our feelings and complications so we can do the same for others, entering into greater mutual trust.

Gemini Lunar Eclipse

A Gemini Full Moon Lunar Eclipse arrives on November 30, closing the month with another release and revelation of truth. We’ve been undergoing deep work as we’ve met with our dogma and rigid beliefs this year, while questioning what we take as reality. This investigation is now reaching a climax. Luckily this eclipse is sextiling Chiron, making sure that whatever comes to light will help facilitate healing.

November Summary

November is a fiery month, full of ups and downs, twists and turns. With Mercury and Mars both stationing direct, we’re ready to bound forward and begin sorting through the fogginess, turmoil, and haze. However, as we release our pent-up anger and frustrations, violence may erupt. It’s necessary to ground this month and practice powerful self-care, calling on friendships and counselors, while keeping things as simple as possible. Ultimately, the planets are steering us toward egalitarianism and positive change, but we must first wrap up this intense year of karmic ripening and purification. We can anchor down and slow our gaits, thinking twice before taking careless leaps, or letting off steam in harmful waves of aggression. If we stick together, we can do this—we can meet all of the challenges that arise with strength, empathy, and intelligence. Above all, we can make room for our powerful emotions and complications. We can extend this loving generosity toward others, dispelling conflict while standing up for what is true, compassionate, and of integrity. Anything is possible, and the future depends on our own courage in facing ourselves while keeping our hearts pliable and open, no matter what.

Rocked by stormy seas and blazing firestorms, may we call on our compassion and resilience. May we lend each other support as we ask for what we need, together steering the ship toward new lands, where we care for the Earth and all beings, effortlessly reflecting our unity and unconditional love.
